Description

This cheesy ranch potatoes and sausage recipe is a comforting, one-pan meal full of crispy roasted potatoes, savory smoked sausage, and melty cheddar cheese—perfect for busy weeknights or casual family dinners.

Ingredients

For the dish:

  • 1 lb baby potatoes (quartered)

  • 1 lb smoked sausage (sliced into rounds)

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/4 cup ranch dressing

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional garnishes:

  • Chopped green onions or parsley

  • Extra shredded cheese for topping

Instructions

  • Prepare the potatoes: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, toss quartered potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

  • Bake the potatoes: Spread them on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet and roast for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway, until golden and tender.

  • Cook the sausage: While potatoes bake, brown sausage slices in a skillet over medium-high heat. Set aside.

  • Combine the dish: In the same bowl, mix roasted potatoes, sausage, sour cream, ranch dressing, and cheddar cheese.

  • Bake to finish: Transfer to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Top with extra cheese if desired and bake for 10–15 minutes until bubbly and golden.

  • Serve: Garnish with green onions or parsley and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked smoked sausage for convenience.

  • You can prep the dish ahead and bake just before serving.

  • Add bell peppers or broccoli for extra veggies.
