Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Base:

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar

1/4 cup (55g) brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

1/3 cup (70g) brown sugar, packed

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

For the Glaze:

3/4 cup (90g) powdered sugar

12 tablespoons milk or cream

1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.

  2. Make the base: In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

  3. Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

  4. Make the swirl: In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Drizzle the melted butter over the dough in the pan, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture on top. Use a knife or toothpick to swirl it gently into the dough.

  5. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set. Cool completely.

  6. Prepare the glaze: Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over cooled bars.

  7. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the swirl for a nutty twist.

  • For extra cinnamon roll vibes, add a hint of cream cheese to the glaze.

  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
