Description

This Creamed Cabbage and Ground Beef Casserole is a hearty, comforting dish that combines savory ground beef, tender cabbage, and a creamy, cheesy sauce. Perfect for a family dinner, this casserole delivers a satisfying blend of textures and bold flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • 1 small head of green cabbage, chopped

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 teaspoon paprika

  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish lightly with oil or butter.

  • Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned and crumbly, about 5–7 minutes. Drain any excess fat.

  • Sauté Vegetables:
Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the browned beef. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the onion softens and becomes translucent.

  • Cook the Cabbage:
Stir in the chopped cabbage, paprika, and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes, allowing the cabbage to begin softening but still maintain some crunch.

  • Assemble the Casserole:
Transfer the beef and cabbage mixture into the prepared casserole dish. Pour the heavy cream evenly over the top, then gently mix to combine.

  • Top with Cheese:
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.

  • Bake:
Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is bubbly and the cheese is melted and lightly golden.

  • Serve:
Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of black pepper or a dash of hot sauce with the beef.

  • Garnish with chopped fresh herbs (such as parsley or thyme) before serving.

  • Adjust the seasoning to your taste, and add more cream if you prefer a saucier consistency.
