Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Bread:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 egg

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

For the Icing:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Bread Dough:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and egg.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined (don’t overmix).

2. Coat the Bread in Cinnamon Sugar:

  1. In a small bowl, mix sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Pour melted butter into a shallow dish.
  3. Divide the dough into two portions. Shape each portion into a rough loaf and dip in melted butter, then roll in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.
  4. Place the dough into the loaf pan and sprinkle extra cinnamon sugar on top.

3. Bake the Bread:

  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

4. Make the Icing & Serve:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Drizzle over the warm bread and enjoy
