Description

This creamy Garlic Pizza Sauce is rich, cheesy, and bursting with bold garlic flavor — the perfect white sauce alternative for pizza night. Made with simple pantry staples and Parmesan, it’s a quick, indulgent upgrade for any homemade pizza, flatbread, or garlic bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Sauté Garlic:
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

  2. Make Roux:
Whisk in flour and cook for another minute to form a roux.

  3. Add Milk:
Gradually whisk in milk, ensuring no lumps remain. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly.

  4. Season & Thicken:
Add salt, pepper, and oregano. Simmer until the sauce thickens, about 3–5 minutes.

  5. Add Cheese:
Stir in Parmesan until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.

  6. Use or Store:
Use immediately on pizza or flatbreads, or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, stir in a pinch of crushed red pepper or a splash of white wine.

  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best texture and meltability.

  • This sauce doubles as a great dipping sauce for breadsticks or garlic knots.
