Description

This Grilled Steak with Caramelized Onions is a savory, juicy main course perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions. Featuring tender beef steaks, golden caramelized onions, and a rich dollop of sour cream or garlic butter, it’s an easy steak recipe with bold, satisfying flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or your favorite cut)

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or garlic butter (optional, for topping)

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prep the Steaks:
Season steaks with salt and black pepper. Let rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.

  • Cook the Steaks:
Heat olive oil in a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Sear steaks for 3–4 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust time for desired doneness). Remove steaks from the pan and let rest for 5 minutes.

  • Caramelize the Onions:
In the same pan, melt butter. Add sliced onions and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 10–15 minutes or until soft, golden, and caramelized.

  • Assemble and Serve:
Top steaks with caramelized onions and a generous spoonful of sour cream or garlic butter. Garnish with chopped parsley.

Notes

  • Let steaks rest before slicing to retain juices.

  • For extra flavor, marinate steaks in garlic and herbs beforehand.

  • Pairs well with mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, or a fresh salad.
