Description

This Not So Impossible Cheeseburger Pie is a hearty, family-friendly casserole that transforms the classic cheeseburger into a rich, cheesy, and satisfying dish. Easy to make with pantry staples like Bisquick, ground beef, and cheese, it’s the perfect comfort food for busy weeknights or nostalgic cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup Bisquick or other baking mix

  • Optional garnishes: sliced pickles or tomatoes

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Set oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish.

  • Cook Beef: In a skillet, brown ground beef with onion, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.

  • Layer Ingredients: Transfer beef mixture to pie dish. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.

  • Mix Batter: Whisk eggs, milk, and Bisquick in a bowl until smooth.

  • Assemble & Bake: Pour batter over beef and cheese. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean and top is golden.

  • Rest & Serve: Let cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with pickles or tomatoes if desired.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or plant-based crumbles as a variation.

  • Add a squirt of mustard or ketchup to the batter for more “burger” flavor.

  • Pairs well with a simple green salad or coleslaw.
