  • 1/4 cup butter

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, cocoa powder, and flour.

  • Cook the Mixture:
Add the dry mixture to the melted butter.
Slowly whisk in the milk, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

  • Add Eggs and Thicken:
In a small bowl, whisk eggs. Temper them by adding a bit of the hot chocolate mixture.
Then, pour eggs into the saucepan.
Stir constantly and cook for 8–10 minutes until thickened.
Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.

  • Assemble the Pie:
Pour the warm chocolate filling into the pre-baked crust.
Smooth the top and let cool to room temperature.
Chill for at least 2 hours until set.

  • Serve:
Slice and serve with whipped cream and chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder, if desired.

Notes

  • For a deeper chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.

  • Ensure constant stirring to avoid lumps or burning.
