Description

These homemade Olive Garden breadsticks are soft, buttery, and brushed with savory garlic butter—just like the restaurant favorite! Perfect for serving with pasta, soups, or salads, they’re easy to make and irresistibly delicious.

Ingredients

For the breadsticks:

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F, or just warm to the touch)

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 1/2 to 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

For the garlic butter topping:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  • Mix the dough: In a large bowl, combine 2 1/2 cups flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and melted butter. Stir into a soft dough.

  • Knead on a floured surface for about 8 minutes, adding more flour if needed, until smooth and elastic.

  • First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.

  • Shape: Punch down dough and divide into 12 pieces. Roll each into a 6-8 inch rope. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  • Second rise: Cover and let rise for 20–30 minutes until puffy.

  • Bake: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown.

  • Garlic butter topping: While baking, mix melted butter, garlic powder, and salt.

  • Brush and serve: Brush hot breadsticks generously with garlic butter. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle with a bit of grated Parmesan before serving.

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container; reheat wrapped in foil in a warm oven.
